You will probably be aware that parking is one of the big topics of conversation in our neighbourhood. There have been many complaints over the years about the quantity of cars from outside the area that are parked – often long-term – in Corstorphine’s residential streets. This can make it hard for residents to park near their homes and makes some narrow streets very hard to negotiate.
The City of Edinburgh Council is proposing the introduction of Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ) in various areas across the city, including Corstorphine – and you can have your say!
A CPZ is an area where all available space is controlled. Kerbside space is either allocated as parking places, or is controlled by yellow lines. In a CPZ there will be no uncontrolled parking space.
The measures will be designed to address parking pressures, particularly looking to tackle the issues caused by non-residential parking. They have the added benefit of encouraging those who can, to use buses, bikes and feet.
A survey has been launched to find out what difficulties people experience with parking in Corstorphine as well as views on what is being proposed. In addition you can post comments directly to an interactive map of the area.
