Traffic free school streets
We would like to see the streets surrounding schools closed to all but residents’ traffic during school start and finish times to enable safer and healthier journeys for all pupils and carers.

Pedestrian friendly streets
We would like to see more people walking and wheeling around Corstorphine. Benefits include improved physical and mental health, better business for local traders, reduced air pollution and more connection to the local community.

Improved air quality
Air pollution is a killer. Poor air quality in our community disproportionately impacts the very young, the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions and disabilities. We need to address this as public health priority.

Safe cycling routes
There are a number of changes that could be made in the area to help make cycling a safer, more enjoyable experience and a viable alternative to taking the car or getting the bus. This includes a segregated cycleway along the A8.

20 mph default speed limit
Reducing the speed to 20 mph on all our Corstorphine streets would create safer, calmer and more pleasant environments for people using the pavements as well as those using the roads.

Low traffic neighbourhoods
The benefits of LTNs are to make residential neighbourhoods safer and more attractive for people who would like to walk, cycle and wheel by discouraging or removing through-traffic with the use of strategic filters on some roads.
